Save Money On Wedding Favors With These Tips

Updated: Jan 5, 2023

Let's be real. Wedding planning can be overwhelming with the pressure to get everything perfect while also staying within budget and managing your daily life. One aspect that can add even more stress is deciding on wedding favors. Purchasing favors can be expensive, while DIY options can be time-consuming and difficult to manage with a busy schedule. It can be frustrating to find favors that are both affordable and convenient. To help make the process easier, here are some tips for creating wedding favors that your guests will appreciate without breaking the bank or consuming all of your time.

1. Buy in Bulk

If you are having a medium to large sized wedding, it's important to choose favors that can be purchased in bulk to save money. Individual items, like small cacti, may be cute but can add up quickly when you need more than 100. Instead, consider food items or bulk items from stores like Sam's Club. For example, you can easily purchase enough s'mores ingredients to feed your entire wedding. Simply wrap and tie them up for a cute and cost-effective favor. Even without a personalized message, these favors will still be appreciated by your guests. Just be sure that the favor matches the theme or vibe of the wedding.

2. Keep it Simple

As someone who appreciates attention to detail, I understand the temptation to go all out with wedding favors. However, it's not necessary to be elaborate. The goal is to provide your guests with something that will remind them of your special day, not create a goody-bag for a kid's birthday party. It's best to choose one nice item and stick with it. Candles are a universally popular choice that can be easily dressed up with a small flower and ribbon. Embracing minimalism not only saves time, but it's also on trend. Trust me, your guests will appreciate the simplicity.

3. Get Them Something You Would Actually Want

I recently attended a wedding where the favors were small, bronze bottle openers that resembled old fashioned keys. Not only were they practical and cute, but I've found myself using it frequently. This is a great example of a favor that your guests will actually use and appreciate. On the other hand, it's best to avoid giving out trinkets or knick-knacks that are likely to end up in the trash or forgotten in a box. When choosing favors, consider whether or not you would actually buy the item for yourself.

4. DIY

While it may seem easier to purchase pre-made packaging and decorations, it is more cost-effective to buy the materials and search for DIY tips online. This can save you a significant amount of money. Additionally, it's best to avoid craft stores as they tend to have higher prices. DIY projects may not be for everyone, but with the right guidance and instructions, it can be a cost-saving and rewarding option.

With these tips, you can create wedding favors that won't break the bank or take up too much of your time. While there are many stressful parts of wedding planning, the favors don't have to be one of them. You can decide how much effort you want to put into the favors, but even a small gesture can be appreciated by your guests and add a personal touch to your wedding.
